Deborah Cox, is a painter, who works in collage and water based media. She is a landscape painter but she challenges the stereotypes, boundaries and history of landscape commonly received. She feels a deep emotional connection to Gloucestershire landscape from which much of her work is based. More recently she has been exploring the effect of intensiv chicken farms on The River Wye and through large canvases has painted iconic views of the river which she has subverted through colour, texture and text.
News:
I will exhibiting at The Aleph Contemporary where I exhibited last year, from October 17th to November 2nd as part of The Autumn Open Studios.
The exhibition is called ‘Landscape in our Midst’ and is a continuation of the theme of how the landscape is effected by intensive farming. I explore a sense of abstraction whilst using Google Earth to locate some of the intensive farms along the river Wye.
